Bio

Mulu Habtemariam was born in Khartoum, Sudan before immigrating to the north eastern region of the United States of America. At age four, Mulu moved to Portland, OR and later graduated from the city’s public magnet school Benson Polytechnic High. It was at Benson that Mulu fostered his love for media, entering the school’s Photography/Video program. He continued exploring the subject as an undergraduate student in the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania.

His passion for media-making, event planning and the arts grew fierce as he embraced a role as Director of student government group SPEC-TRUM, which allowed him to utilize both his technical and intrapersonal skills to organize, lead, and manage large budgets to put on successful music and entertainment events on behalf of a diverse student body.

Most recently, Mulu works as an advertising Cultural Insights Analyst at the agency Wieden+Kennedy and spends his free time managing music talent, producing photo/video shoots, curating/hosting art events, and doing community outreach in his hometown of Portland while dabbling in UX & web design.

I live ∞ for ∞ a living

What’s good?! I’m Mulu Habtemariam, a producer from Portland, OR.
I was born in Sudan to Eritrean parents, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Communication, and spent the past few years leading community art projects in my hometown. After a 2.5 year stint in a strategic role as a Cultural Insights Analyst, I made a career switch into Production at Wieden+Kennedy, then left for Chicago to work at Leo Burnett, and am now at 72&Sunny in LA. Outside of work, you can catch me being the ultimate hypeman at my music buddies shows.
